A predestination paradox or time loop was a type of time travel.
History and specifics[]
When he travelled back in time to the 23rd century, Julian Bashir was worried that he was experiencing a predestination paradox and was destined to become his own great-grandfather. This proved not to be the case. (DS9 episode: "Trials and Tribble-ations")
Agents Dulmer and Lucsly of Temporal Investigations hated predestination paradoxes. (DS9 episode: "Trials and Tribble-ations", DTI novel: Forgotten History)
Simulations[]
In one of Badgey's holographic drills aboard the USS Cerritos, Beckett Mariner and Brad Boimler seemed to be trapped in a time loop initiated when Mariner was apparently fatally poisoned. The loops were faked, however, by an alien parasite who had given Mariner a hallucinogen. Dr. T'Ana ended the drill by giving Mariner an antidote. (LD video game: The Badgey Directive episode: "Badge of Tomorrow")
