She was the niece of Spock and a successful mind meld specialist, having published multiple academic papers. In an arranged marriage, she was betrothed to a Romulan boy named Hasmek, in the hope that the union would also unite the Vulcan and Romulan peoples. (TOS novel: Mind Meld)
