Tinnitus was a medical condition that caused an impairment to hearing, with the sufferer hearing a constant ringing noise. They could have limited hearing if they tuned it out, and very distracted if they did not.

It was one of a number of handicaps that randomly afflicted Grey Orions, due to their genetic mutilation. (FASA RPG - The Orions module: Book of Deep Knowledge)
