Wrightwell was a Human officer of the Federation Starfleet in the 24th century.
History[]
In 2370, Wrightwell held commander's rank and served as the aide-de-camp of Fleet Admiral Alynna Nechayev. He was stationed at Starbase 310. In his position as aide, Wrightwell was once asked for Nechayev's preferences for delicacy food by Captain Jean-Luc Picard, leading Wrightwell to inform Picard that Nechayev enjoyed Bularian canapés. This small piece of information enabled a much more friendly atmosphere for many of Picard and Nechayev's later interactions, following the strained relationship between the two officers regarding differing opinions of an encounter with the Borg in 2369. (TNG episode: "Journey's End")
By 2375, Wrightwell had been promoted to captain and was assigned as the commanding officer of the starship USS Catherine Mary. (SCE - What's Past eBook: The Future Begins)

Background[]
In his initial mentions, it was unclear whether or not Wrightwell was a commander or a lieutenant commander, although his later promotion to captain makes it likely that he did spend time holding the higher rank of commander, as shown here.
