Yamoto was a 23rd century Human man, an inventive scientist who founded the Rifas-L world ship.
Biography[]
Yamato based his lab operations beneath the Palace of Life on Rifas-L. There, he conceived and fostered what he thought would be a "perfect" society made up of cloned individuals. Rather than independence, he programmed three regimental societal classes. Anyone behaving outside their norms was arrested and executed as a mutant by Collector warriors. Third Dan males were cloned from his cells, and he took genetic information from five other humanoids to make up the rest of the population. He was known in society as "the master", their overlord.
When Spock discovered Yamoto's cloning lab, Yamato introduced himself and gave him a tour. He then stunned Spock, stealing genetic samples from the unconscious Vulcan to craft a new clone class. Meanwhile, Oshino, one of the clones, had entered the lab, realized her society was fake, and become enraged. She stole Captain James T. Kirk's phaser and used it to block the landing party's way, then proceeded to locate and activate a self destruct mechanism, killing Yamato and all of his creations on the world ship.
At a Board of Inquiry on stardate 30:20:4, Kirk described the incident in detail. (TOS comic: "The Perfect Dream")
