Trotsky

Trotsky is the third segment of the episode "The Cycling Tour."

Synopsis[]

On the 4th of September, Mr. Pither (Michael Palin) finds himself in the Alpes-Maritimes region, writing in his journal. Clodagh (Terry Jones) seems to want to trek to Moscow. Mr Gulliver reappears from the wilderness and says they must leave as he's convinced he saw an agent sent by Stalin to kill him. As his rambling continues, it becomes clear he's convinced he's Leon Trotsky - one of the founders of the greatest nations, Lenin's greatest friend.

They're interrupted by French civilians Monsieur and Madame Brun (John Cleese and Eric Idle) who ask what's going on. Pither introduces them to Gulliver as Clodagh and the French civilians recognise her, singing 'Jack in the Box'. Their teen daughters (Graham Chapman and his son John Tomiczek) run up to Clodagh and ask for her autograph, but call out to their mother that this isn't Clodagh, it's Trotsky. Gulliver runs off into the wilderness in search for Lenin, and Pither excuses his behaviour for pressure of work.

While chasing Gulliver, Pither falls off his bike into a ditch. Gulliver runs yelling madly into a clearing where a French couple is making out and recognising him as Clodagh Rogers, starts singing 'Jack in a Box'.
