SCENE 1Miguel meets with Pete Seeger at Big Bird's nest, where Pete has a steel drum he got from someone in Trinidad. He's just learning how to play it and explains to Miguel and the kids how it works, citing it came from a barrel much like the ones the kids like to play in. Pete shows Miguel some of the other instruments that the kids have: cans filled with pebbles, which Miguel and the kids shake in rhythm to a tune Pete plays on his drum.
