Description
SCENE 1Big Bird is finishing a conversation with Mr. Snuffleupagus on the telephone. Snuffy says he’s going to send Big Bird a surprise present: something very big that rhymes with "bee." When Big Bird hangs up, he assumes it’s a tree, and proceeds to dig in his nest for things to help him prepare.

Big Bird piles some shovels and watering cans outside the doors, then invites Bob, Gordon and Maria to help him dig a hole for the tree he’ll be getting soon. They doubt that his "imaginary" friend would send him a tree, and ask him to put his things away. After they leave, Big Bird thinks some more, and concludes that Snuffy will be sending him … the sea!

Pondering what Snuffy's present could be, Big Bird finds a large box in the yard. He opens it, and finds Mr. Snuffleupagus inside, who reveals his present: "Me!" Snuffy leaves for a cup of tea, and Big Bird shows the crate to his grown-up friends, who still don’t believe him.
