Peter Guinness in Jack and the Beanstalk: The Real Story

Peter Guinness (b. 1950) is a British character actor who played the hall cryer in the Jim Henson Company TV movie Jack and the Beanstalk: The Real Story. He previously appeared in Arabian Nights as the executioner, although not in the sequence with Creature Shop-effects.

Often alternating between playing police officials and villainous or foreboding roles, Guinness played convict Gregor in Alien 3, henchmen or gangsters several times (including on The Casebook of Sherlock Holmes, Tales from the Crypt, and in The Hogfather), a coroner in Bleak House, Ichabod Crane's abusive father in Tim Burton's Legend of Sleepy Hollow, and was a regular in the third season of Amazon Prime's Jack Ryan as Petr Kovac. He was more law abiding with regular roles as a police superintendent on Spender and a Royal Military Police captain on Red Cap In DC Comics adaptations, he played a general in three episodes of Pennyworth and Desaad (both voice and motion capture performance) in the Zack Snyder version of Justice League. Historical roles include Rudyard Kipling in a 2006 BBC documentary, Nebuchadnezzar on The Bible, and rowing boat designer George Pocock in the film The Boys on the Boat (directed by George Clooney).

Active in radio and audio books, Guinness played the title role in a 2007 BBC Radio version of The Phantom of the Opera and villains in multiple Doctor Who audio dramas.
