The nineteenth season of The Simpsons originally aired from September 23, 2007, to May 18, 2008, starting with "He Loves to Fly and He D'ohs" and ending with "All About Lisa."
Season Milestones[]
- In production order, this is the final season to use the second opening sequence used since Season 2.
- This is the last season to be fully produced in 4:3 standard definition (though season 20 would have nine holdover episodes from this season that are in 4:3).
- This is the first season to be animated on Toon Boom Wacom Cintiqs, though hand-drawn layouts are still used to keep the traditional look of the series, the series continues using the process as such to this day.
- This is the first time (not counting the last season of the Tracy Ullman Show shorts) that The Simpsons was affected by a Hollywood strike (see "Production" below).
- This is the first "post-movie/pre-sequel" season overall.
Production[]
Season 19 was originally going to have 23 episodes, but only 17 episodes were finished after Treehouse of Horror XVIII, due to the 2007-2008 Writers Guild of America strike. Fortunately, some episodes were in post-production and FOX edited the scripts while the writers were on strike (a decision that Seth MacFarlane from Family Guy called "...a colossal dick move.").

Trivia[]
- This is one of the seasons where only some of the episodes are pal-pitched in some other countries.
- The only episodes to contain the effect are Midnight Towboy and E Pluribus Wiggum.
- The rest of the episodes have to be aired in some parts of the UK and France to contain the pal-pitch effect.
- This is the only season to contain an exact 20-episode count, which is still higher than the 13-episode count from season 1.
