I am answering as the maintainer of the Linux C libary version 5 and the developer of the Linux C libary version 6, aka the GNU C library version 2. For Linux, the C library version has to be the part of the config.guess output. Many, many packages depend on the correct ouput from config.guess. Otherwise, they won't be configured right with the Linux C libary version 5. Could someone please fix it? Thanks. H.J.
