Sounds great. One of the first things you'll need to do is file a
copyright assignment with the FSF. You can find get that information by
mailing assign@gnu.org.

Next you'll probably want to post the patches here for review. They'll
probably be quite large so you'll want to be patient with reviewers
since we can all get busy and large patches take longer to review.
