I keep forgetting the more important parts: also built a sysroot
mipsisa32r2el-linux toolchain (with glibc) then libc.so and
libpthread.so edited to prefix paths with = as mentioned in 0/6,
and used that to build a linux-based system (apparently working)
in a non-sysroot cross-build environment (which was part of the
"inspiration" for these patches).
