Optical Tracking of Artificial Satellites

ADS

Abstract

The paper outlines the principles of optical tracking of artificial satellites, with emphasis on high-accuracy techniques. Various methods for determining the apparent position of a satellite at a known time are discussed, for both visual and photographic tracking. A description is given of several optical tracking systems now in operation, under development, or just proposed.
