5.0 out of 5 stars Purple Gang and those interested in The UFO Club should get this book

Great book, I actually bought it to read about Pink Floyd with Syd Barrett and The UFO Club and was not disappointed, but I wound up reading the whole thing because The Purple Gan story is fascinating and lot's of amazing stories. I like their music now too, honestly never listened to them much before, but keep in mind that Granny Takes a Trip was played very often on the record player at The UFO Club and the story about getting fired from the band is worth the price of the book along.

5.0 out of 5 stars A well told tale of success, kept just out of reach!

A well told tale!
I remember 'The Purple Gang' from the early 70s, when I saw them as the support act for several big names, at Stockport College. the lasting impression I have of them is that they were 'good fun' and very entertaining. I often wondered what had happened to them, well this book told me that and much more. The author and founding member of the group has led a very interesting life, met and worked with some interesting people and lived to tell the tale. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and would recommend it to anyone but especially who lived through the 60/70s and enjoyed the music.
Keep it Purple!!
5.0 out of 5 stars Now this takes me back!

This book won’t be for everyone but I’m a contemporary of the author and from the same area of the UK so for me the story isn’t just about a group trying to make it in the ‘swinging sixties’, it’s about places and events that bring memories flooding back. So I’ve found it doubly fascinating. Should The Purple Gang have made the big time? Hmmm.
