backstitching

4 Referring to Set-In Seams (Y-Seams) in Quilt Basics and Diagram IV-A, stitch peach diamond and pieced diamond together, starting stitching at match point and backstitching to secure.

Sew the seam between the 'A" marks, backstitching to secure the seam at the beginning and end.

Sew the seam between the 14" marks, backstitching to secure the seam at the beginning and end.

Backstitching at the beginning and end, sew 1/4" seams along the sides and bottoms, leaving 4"-5" at the bottom edge of the lining (for turning) and the cut corners unsewn.

A machine-stitched seam line is sewn from raw edge to raw edge, and backstitching is not necessary because seams will be crossed by another line of stitching.

Backstitching at both ends, sew across the corner as shown; repeat for all 4 corners.

Matching centers and ends, sew the border strips to the quilt starting and stopping 1/4" from the corners and backstitching. Miter the corners.
