Java - Integer toHexString() method
Description
The Java Integer toHexString() method returns a string representation of the integer argument as an unsigned integer in base 16.
Declaration
Following is the declaration for java.lang.Integer.toHexString() method
public static String toHexString(int i)
Parameters
i − This is an integer to be converted to a string.
Return Value
This method returns the string representation of the unsigned integer value represented by the argument in hexadecimal (base 16).
Exception
NA
Getting Hexadecimal Representation of a Positive int Value Example
The following example shows the usage of Integer toHexString() method to get the hexadecimal string representation of the specified int value. We've created a int variable and assigned it a positive int value. Then using toHexString() method, we're printing the result.
package com.tutorialspoint;
public class IntegerDemo {
public static void main(String[] args) {
int i = 170;
System.out.println("Number = " + i);
/* returns the hexadecimal string representation of the given number */
System.out.println("toHexString = " + Integer.toHexString(i));
}
}
Output
Let us compile and run the above program, this will produce the following result −
Number = 170 toHexString = aa
Getting Hexadecimal Representation of a Negative int Value Example
The following example shows the usage of Integer toHexString() method to get the hexadecimal string representation of the specified int value. We've created a int variable and assigned it a negative int value. Then using toHexString() method, we're printing the result.
package com.tutorialspoint;
public class IntegerDemo {
public static void main(String[] args) {
int i = -170;
System.out.println("Number = " + i);
/* returns the hexadecimal string representation of the given number */
System.out.println("toHexString = " + Integer.toHexString(i));
}
}
Output
Let us compile and run the above program, this will produce the following result −
Number = -170 toHexString = ffffff56
Getting Hexadecimal Representation of a Positive Zero int Value Example
The following example shows the usage of Integer toHexString() method to get the hexadecimal string representation of the specified int value. We've created a int variable and assigned it a zero value. Then using toHexString() method, we're printing the result.
package com.tutorialspoint;
public class IntegerDemo {
public static void main(String[] args) {
int i = 0;
System.out.println("Number = " + i);
/* returns the hexadecimal string representation of the given number */
System.out.println("toHexString = " + Integer.toHexString(i));
}
}
Output
Let us compile and run the above program, this will produce the following result −
Number = 0 toHexString = 0
