Why Wi-Fi CERTIFIED® | Wi-Fi Alliance
Wi-Fi CERTIFIED designates high-quality, interoperable, commercially viable Wi-Fi® products
Wi-Fi CERTIFIED has been an essential element in accelerating Wi-Fi adoption by helping to ensure quality, consistency, security, and interoperability among Wi-Fi devices.
Wi-Fi CERTIFIED testing and certification is an internationally recognized process indicating that Wi-Fi products meet the highest standards for interoperability, security, and a range of application specific protocols. Wi-Fi CERTIFIED helps companies deliver reliable Wi-Fi products to their customers and assures the best Wi-Fi user experience on Wi-Fi networks. Wi-Fi CERTIFIED devices undergo rigorous testing to validate interoperability with other Wi-Fi CERTIFIED equipment regardless of vendor. Testing and certification is available for wide-ranging consumer, enterprise, and operator-specific devices, and companies that participate in Wi-Fi CERTIFIED processes distinguish themselves as market leaders. Through Wi-Fi CERTIFIED, new technologies that are brought through Wi-Fi Alliance become commercially viable, and our processes support innovation and trust across the Wi-Fi ecosystem.
Members can also choose from three flexible certification paths based on individual company needs. Wi-Fi CERTIFIED carries a suite of benefits, including higher customer satisfaction, lower return rates, reduced support costs, and increased sales. A company must be a Wi-Fi Alliance member to participate in Wi-Fi CERTIFIED testing, achieve certification, and use the Wi-Fi CERTIFIED logo and Wi-Fi CERTIFIED certification marks.

“We strongly believe in interoperability and given the fact that Wi-Fi is a long-established collection of technologies that has grown and evolved over the years, it’s important for us to achieve interoperability with whatever is out there in the real world. That is where certification really plays an important role for our products.”
Danny Lousberg
Head of Product Management, Software, at Signify
“Standing out in the crowd and having those [Wi-Fi CERTIFIED] logos on our products is so valuable. I actually win RFPs and RFIs over it and have a competitive advantage over my competitors.”
Rosalie Bibona
Product Management Director of Wireless at Extreme Networks
“Wi-Fi CERTIFIED plays a crucial role in the IoT industry. It ensures that IoT devices meet strict standards, enhancing their reliability, performance, and security. With high interoperability, Wi-Fi CERTIFIED devices can seamlessly communicate with each other. It sets a very good standard and a benchmark for the expectation of the experience that the consumer can get.”
Alex Yang
Co-founder and COO at Tuya Smart
"QuickTrack certification further enables Extreme Networks to maintain its position at the forefront of rapid product development and innovation. It is now a much faster process for us to validate and deliver cutting-edge solutions to our customers, enabling them to take advantage of new 6 GHz wireless solutions that will prepare them to grow and deliver successful outcomes."

Chipset designers & Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs)
Interoperability among Wi-Fi CERTIFIED equipment opens a large addressable market for Wi-Fi chipset designers and ODMs, where economies of scale can significantly bring costs down. Wi-Fi integration in devices with multiple wireless interfaces is an emerging and attractive market for chipset designers and ODMs and one that requires certified devices, as interoperability is an essential requirement.
Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs)
Certification helps ensure interoperability with other equipment vendors' products and allows OEMs a further measure to test quality in their equipment before introducing it into the market, thus reducing overall support costs. Wi-Fi CERTIFIED branding enables worldwide recognition and facilitates entry into new markets.
Application developers
The global reach of Wi-Fi means that applications that support Wi-Fi can be marketed worldwide, lowering development costs and enlarging the addressable market. Wi-Fi Alliance certification programs such as WMM®, WMM-Power Save, and Wi-Fi Protected Setup™ provide additional functionality that enables application developers to bring more advanced applications to market.
Service providers
Certification brings interoperability to large-scale deployments. Support for Wi-Fi devices is streamlined, even in multi-vendor deployments, helping to contain costs. High awareness of the Wi-Fi CERTIFIED brand among subscribers can increase the marketing impact of new product offerings.
Retailers
The Wi-Fi CERTIFIED logo is conducive to higher sales and higher customer satisfaction, supporting lower return rates and customer service costs. It also helps sales representatives to direct customers to the appropriate product and to identify the functionality it supports.
Consumers
Wi-Fi CERTIFIED is a trusted brand that offers interoperability, standards-based security, and easy installation. It is an assurance that an independent third party has tested the product in numerous configurations and with a diverse sampling of other devices to ensure compatibility with other Wi-Fi CERTIFIED equipment.
Enterprise customers
Whether deploying a new infrastructure or integrating new equipment into an existing infrastructure, using Wi-Fi CERTIFIED products ensures interoperability of Wi-Fi products from multiple vendors. Fewer network problems and support calls are often additional advantages of using Wi-Fi CERTIFIED products.
