The Iron Age is the informal term applied to a specific period of comic book publishing history.
History
Following the Bronze Age era, DC's Iron Age is largely recognized as beginning after the 1985-86 crossover maxi-series, Crisis on Infinite Earths. The multiverse-shattering event left DC with one unified continuity with characters like Superman and Wonder Woman given completely rebooted histories. This era ended in 2011 with another continuity-rebooting event, The New 52, which launched the Modern Age.
Note: Prior to a 2025 change in policy, the term "Modern Age" was used on the DC Database to refer to comics published from 1986 to 2010. We now refer to that era as the "Iron Age". The term "Modern Age" now refers comics published from 2011 to the present.
