Former Flag

Local Council Netivot is situated in the NW Negev, on the Be'er Sheva–Ashqelon road. Est. 1956, has 19'000 inh. The flag has been reported as an emblem on various colours but needs confirmation. The municipal emblem was published in the official gazette (Rashumot), 'Publications Gazette' section (Yalkut ha'Pirsumim), YP 963, 27 September 1962.

In my visit, I found out that the flag is a blue emblem on light blue background. They modified the official emblem to look like a face.

Netivot is a municipality since 2000, with population of 22'400 (2003). So the inscription Mo'atz Mekomit was removed from the flag. The name Netivot (Paths) is taken from the bible (Proverbs 3,17). Established in 1956 as "Azata"
Netivot was known as the hometown of the Baba Sali (Real name: Israel Abu-Hatzeira, 1890–1984), a famous religious leader of oriental (Sefaradic) Jews. His monumental grave is a magnet to his followers and a site to a feast each year on 4 in Shvat.
