Usage

Clone this repo, cd to the folder you'd want to build an image from.

Make a note of the IMAGE_ID from the docker build . output
Look at the Dockerfile to see the port(s) exposed, like solr exposes 8983, or tomcat8 exposes 8080
Start a container with port mapping. You can then use localhost:port to interact with the container over HTTP or any other protocol. This example will allow you to view the Solr Web Console on http://localhost:9999

bash-3.2$ docker run -p9999:8983 IMAGE_ID

To stop the container (^C is not going to work!), open another terminal. Look for the CONTAINER_ID and use docker stop with that CONTAINER_ID.
