Thanks to all replies. They definetely helped to reach some conclusions. The first is that the free JVM's are getting mature enough to be usable for many applications. The second is that there is a general consensus around GNU Classpath, which seems to be a true effort-duplication time-saver. And if nothing else they have sensibilized me more to the free-java goal, and I'll definetely will keep and eye on these projects and test them out whenever possible. Regards, Jose Fonseca
