Budapest was the capital of Hungary.
Dr. Janos Trovaya, a Hungarian geneticist and entomologist, was killed in a suspicious laboratory explosion. His daughter Maria Pym later married Henry Pym, but on their honeymoon, she was kidnapped by Communist agents and supposedly killed, despite Pym's efforts to rescue her.[1]
Corrupt Pack member Berecz tried to hide in a Budapest safehouse, but Silver Sable, former leader of the Pack, and her new partner Dominic Fortune tracked him there, defeated him at the safehouse, and obtained a new trail.[2]
The X-Men traveled to Budapest, tracing Arkea’s signal to a hospital specializing in cybernetic implants, where she had possessed Jubilee’s baby and other patients. They fought through the controlled patients to reach Arkea, who had been possessing Karima Shapandar. Psylocke prepared to strike Arkea, but Karima regained consciousness and used Psylocke’s blade to stab herself, ending Arkea’s threat for the moment. The team brought Karima home, with Storm cautioning that Arkea might return.[3]
Cain Marko visited the catacombs under Budapest to find out more about Cyttorak, who was one of deities displayed as a statue there.[4]

Before World War II, Edwin Jarvis served under a general in the British army stationed in Budapest, where he met his future wife Ana. When the War broke out, Jarvis forged his general's signature to get Ana, who is Jewish, out of the country, an act that later had Jarvis accused of treason. Although the charges were eventually dropped, Jarvis was dishonorably discharged from the military.[6]
S.H.I.E.L.D. agents Natasha Romanoff and Clint Barton were sent on a mission together in Budapest. While the details of the mission are unknown, it is stated each remembers them rather differently than the other.[7]
Natasha returned to Budapest after receiving a mysterious package and note. There, she reunited with Yelena Belova, and the two fought inside the apartment Natasha had once used. After reaching a truce, they were hunted by other Black Widows and Taskmaster, leading to a chaotic chase through the city. Taskmaster destroyed their car in an explosion, forcing them to escape into a subway station, where they narrowly found safety.[8]
