Negari

Negari was an African city (along with Opar) colonized at some point by Atlantean descendants, seemingly around the Post-Hyborian Cataclysm (circa 8,000 BC),[3] who claimed (or believed) to be the last outpost of Atlantis. It was located in the south of Kush during the Hyborian Age.[2]

Origins and Pre-Cataclysmic Age[]

Negari was an African city (along with Opar) colonized at some point by Atlantean descendants,[3] seemingly during the Pre-Cataclysmic Age.[4]

From there, they enslaved black-skinned "savages".[5] The Atlanteans worshiped Valkan Hotath, Honen, and Golgor, and many virgins were sacrificed on their altars.[5]

Eventually, the worship of Valka was replaced by the one of cruel Golgor, to which were stukk offered human sacrifices.[4]

After the Great Cataclysm[]

After the Great Cataclysm and the sinking of Atlantis, in Negari now in Kush[4] was believed by some to be the last colony of Atlantis.[5][4]

The Atlanteans ruled as kings, ruling over the black slaves.[5]

Eventually, the slave tribes regained freedom, the slaves and masters mixed, and the race "degenerated" (according to the last Atlantean high priest of Negari).[5] Races mixed to the point blacks were represented both by slaves and kings, though the later were often manipulated the priests, the last men fully Atlantean in lineage.[4]

Eventually, a black king sat upon the throne of Negari. The only Atlanteans allowed to survive were the priests.[5]

Hyborian Age[]

By the Hyborian Age of Conan, circa 10,000 BC, Negari was ruled by King Yabalya, heir of those who overthrown the Atlantean descendants.[2]

16th century[]

Nakari, a slave born to a father slave, arose, overthrew the king and set herself on the throne. She also dominated the priests. Eventually there was only one last Atlantean high priest.[5]

Nakari came in hold of Marylin Taferal, intending to sacrifice her in a ceremony before the skull of Nakura, the last great wizard of Atlantean Negari.[6] Solomon Kane went on her trail,[7] but was captured by Nakari who offered him to rule as king by her side, and restore the city to her lost glory, but was rejected by Kane.[5]

Informed of the whole ordeal by the last Atlantean high priest just before he died, Solomon Kane rushed to the ceremony, destroyed the skull of Nakura, causing the fall into savagery of the people of Negari. In the brawl, trying to reach Solomon Kane, Nakari wounded a warrior who, blinded, groped, threw her, and shattered her body on the altar.[6]
