Stargate

Shi'ar have a network of devices known as Stargates. They were used to create stable Wormholes. These were used by the Shi'ar Empire to travel around the universe. Sometimes they were ground-based gates for people to walk through, other times they were enormous space-based ones for ships to use.[1][2] Stargates or a version of the standard stargate, had the ability to provide travel to other dimensions.[3]

The technology of the Stargate worked by having near-infinite amounts of energy bound in a delicately-balanced matrix field. It was when the Stargate was in operation that it was most vulnerable. If the transit screen was hit with enough firepower, the stargate would explode in a massive explosion that could be seen far.[3]

The Galactic Council later partnered with the Shi'ar Empire to establish an intergalactic network of Stargates centered from the Fulcrum to facilitate trade between planets. They made a trade deal with the Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda to supply Vibranium to manufacture them.[4]

After the Secret Alliance dethroned Majestrix Xandra, the new Majestor, Electron, ordered that all Stargates in their possession to be decommissioned in order to prevent Xandra and her allies from leaving the Shi'ar Galaxy.[5] The only functioning Stargates left were those owned by the Galactic Council, which had since been restructured into the Galactic Union.[6]

  • Through the use of the Nova Force, Nova Corps members can generate their own Nova-Class Stargates. These Stargates are entirely energy-based.[7][6]
  • The Symbiote Imperium had also utilized Stargates to move around space and invade planets.[8]
  • Not to be confused with the Stargates found in the science fiction franchise of the same name.
