- The ECS Horizon makes first contact with a Deltan starship. When the Deltans told the humans that they were from planet Dhei of the star Lta, the Horizon crew marked it in their star charts as Delta.[1] Fifteen-year-old Travis Mayweather finds them very attractive and very open, so he tries to overcome his feelings with a hard workout.[2]
- Hoshi Sato has a pen pal from Brisbane, Australia.[3]
- Parvati Rao is at an unspecified grade level of Admiral assigned to United Earth Starfleet Intelligence. She meets Dresden University of Technology computer scientist, Professor Aaron Ikerson, who had created Uraei (which ultimately led to the creation of Section 31).[4]
