The Bajoran Institute of Science was a scientific body on the planet Bajor.
History and specifics[]
The Bajoran Institute of Science existed before the Occupation of Bajor, but later came under the control of the Cardassians and was overseen by Director Sree Yopal. Many Bajoran scientists working for the Institute disappeared and eventually only Mora Pol and Daul Mirosha continued to work there. Used during the occupation to examine Bajoran technology, the facility had an industrial transporter. Mora and Daul studied treatments for Orkett's disease. (ST - Terok Nor novels: Night of the Wolves, Dawn of the Eagles)
In 2353, Odo was brought to the Bajoran Institute of Science, where he was studied by Mora. (Decipher RPG module: Worlds, DS9 episode: "The Alternate")
In 2357, Daul Mirosha informed the Shakaar resistance cell of an industrial transporter at the Institute, which they later used to transport into the Gallitep labor camp. Daul also left the Institute at this time and sabotaged the work on an anti-aircraft system that Kalisi Reyar was working on. (ST - Terok Nor novel: Night of the Wolves)
By 2360s, Mora was the remaining Bajoran at the Institute, and both worked and lived there. In the 2360s, Kira Nerys once broke into the institute. (DS9 - Terok Nor novel: Dawn of the Eagles)
Shakaar Edon, Lupaza and Nerys had broken in, following the institute's blueprints to try to steal Odo, but were unable to bypass security, and left empty handed. In 2376, a Changeling made Kira experience three realities, one of which was a memory of her infiltrating the institute. This time, however, the trio succeeded in escaping with Odo. (DS9 - Strange New Worlds 9 short story: "Shadowed Allies")
After the Occupation ended, the Institute of Science returned to Bajoran control. Mora was still associated with the institute in 2370 when he visited Odo at Deep Space 9. (DS9 episode: "The Alternate")
