Freedom was a state of personal liberty.
History and specifics[]
In 2266, when Saeena said that she would allow a landing party from the USS Enterprise to spend their lives in happiness in Mila Xa, Captain James T. Kirk rejected this, stating that comfort and freedom were not necessarily the same, and that they were choosing freedom. (TOS comic: "The Haunted Asteroid")
Worf thought that the ideals of the Federation about freedom and individual rights made it hard to screen for Changelings. (DS9 novel: Vengeance)
