Harry Price was a 23rd century Human man. He was a mediocre civilian freighter captain often down on his luck.
Biography[]
Price liked smoking cigars and gambling, particularly playing poker. He was a bachelor, and was often drunk and unshaven.
Price graduated from the Merchant Marine Academy with barely passing grades. He worked for several companies over the years, always performing below average. Prior to 2281, TransSolar hired him as a freighter captain, but they fired him for improperly storing computer equipment during one of his assignments.
In 2281, while visiting Rolan III, he won SS Eileen in a poker game, but it came with ten years of remaining financing payments. Not long afterwards, he met Hans Markheim, whom Price erroneously believed to be his son. Price hired him immediately as Eileen's first mate and treated him well, but never told him why.
By 2285, Price had lapsed five months behind on payments.
In 2285, he was promised an exorbitant fee to transport Valkris and five companions to the Federation border. He was aware that they were Klingons, but convinced himself he wasn't a traitor and whatever they were doing couldn't be all bad, because the payment would more than clear his debts. During the trip, he relaxed and played poker with several of Valkris's companions. When Eileen was confronted by the Grayson-class USS Anderson, however, Price became so nervous and sweaty that he turned command over to one of the passengers. (FASA RPG module: The Serpent Factor)
Later, at their rendezvous point within the Organian Treaty Zone, Price's hails went unanswered and he worried about getting paid. When Valkris hailed, Commander Kruge's B'rel-class bird-of-prey decloaked above them. Valkris transmitted a file, then assured Price that he would soon be paid. Kruge then destroyed Eileen, killing Price and all but two of his crew. (TOS movie, novelization & comic adaptation: The Search For Spock)
