The Nyazen were a race from the Gamma Quadrant.
History and specifics[]
The Nyazen were often in conflict with the D'Naali. In 2376, the crew of the USS Defiant encountered the Nyazen when the Defiant discovered a unusual structure that the Nyazen deemed a holy place. The Nyazen blockaded the object and D'Naali starships later arrived, provoking a tense standoff with the crew of the Defiant who were caught between the two enemies. After the situation was resolved, Elias Vaughn noted in his log that he hoped that the Nyazen and the D'Naali might make peace one day and invite the Federation to study the structure.
