Outer Sector Defense Outpost 4 was a United Earth front-line military outpost, one of four Outer Sector Defense Outposts located near the Romulan Star Empire in the mid-22nd century.

History and specifics[]

OSDO 4 was under construction by reference stardate 1/00, but allowed to be used as a shore leave destination for United Earth Starfleet starships. It was placed between OSDO 1 and OSDO 2 in the general vicinity of Alpha Omega B, Raman, Canis Minoris 12, Eta Leonis, Sector 5K, and Sigma Cancri.

In the 2150s, a Romulan squadron destroyed 11 of 12 starships from the 155th Combat Squadron that were docked and on leave at the unfinished outpost. Their crews survived the initial attack, but the facility couldn't handle the huge influx of personnel and over time its life support failed. Everyone had died before reinforcements arrived two weeks later.

After the Earth-Romulan War, the Federation rebuilt, reconfigured, and reorganized the defense outposts into a new network of Romulan Neutral Zone outposts. (FASA RPG module: The Romulan War)
