V'kar Zadan class

The D2-class (known in Klingonaase as the V'kar Zadan-class, literally translated, Stingtongue-class) was a series of class VI Klingon destroyer starships in Imperial Defense Force service around the time of the 23rd century.

Service history and specifications[]

The Stingtongue vessels crewed 220, with room for ten passengers and one shuttlecraft, as well as two transporter rooms, two combat transporter stages and a single cargo transporter. They measured 205 meters in length, 135 meters in width and 30 meters in height, with a weight of 74,500 metric tons. The vessels had a cargo storage capacity of 30 SCU, or 1,500 metric tons. Control computers on board were of the ZD-5 type. The D2 had two KWC-1 warp nacelles, with a cruising speed of warp seven and a maximum speed of warp 8. The impulse engines were of the KID-1 type. The ships were armed with two KD-6 disruptors and two KP-2 torpedo launchers, and were defended by KSN type deflectors

The D2 series entered service with the D2A model on reference stardate 2/1201, with over one-hundred forty-six ships constructed over the "A" series lifetime. The "A" series was armed with a fore and aft torpedo launcher, while the "B" series featured both launchers facing forward. The D2B model was constructed with over one-hundred forty-four ships beginning on stardate 2/1206. Of the classes 290 vessels built by the 2280s decade, 20 were destroyed, 1 was captured by Romulans, 2 were missing, 1 was scrapped and two were sold into private service. The class was constructed at Iosia and H'renn at a rate of about 12 per month. (FASA RPG module: Klingon Ship Recognition Manual)
