From 2409 onwards, a 3D image of the Monarch appeared as representative of its class on interfaces in the shipyard at Earth Spacedock.

During the Borg Invasion of 2381, the Monarch engaged the Borg at Lorillia. The ship survived, but among the casualties was Lieutenant JG T'Mura, the mate of the operations officer, Lieutenant (j.g.) Valak. Following the invasion, the Monarch reported to Starbase 22, where the station's counselor, Brian Ellis, counselled Valak and the Monarch medical staff. (ST novel: A Singular Destiny)
