Maria helps him out by brushing it for him, and Herry offers to brush her hair in return; she politely declines. Herry looks around for someone else's hair to brush, but gives up when the next person to come along is the bald Gordon.

A brown dog arrives and starts to eat the sandwiches. Panicking, the men try to steer the rowboat back to the shore but they can't direct the boat. Eventually, they realize that to return they must cooperate. They get back just in time to take back the last wrapped sandwich out of the dog's mouth.

SCENE 4 David hears Big Bird conversing with someone on the other side of the construction doors, assuming it's just Big Bird's imaginary friend Mr. Snuffleupagus. To his shock, he hears Snuffy talk back! He rushes to the yard to tell everybody what he's just heard. Meanwhile, Big Bird and Snuffy decide to leave to catch a Shirley Temple movie, meaning that when David brings everybody to Big Bird's nest, neither the bird nor his friend are there. The grown-ups scoff at David's attempt at a "joke" and leave. Moments later, David hears Big Bird and Snuffy behind the doors again, deciding to watch TV as they've already seen the movie they heard about. David is tempted to see Snuffy for himself, but gives it a second thought and decides not to bother.

SCENE 5 Bob plays with Woof Woof in the yard when Gordon confronts him about the dog's name. He proposes they change it to a better one - "Barkley." Bob and Gordon disagree on the subject, so they rally as many people and kids they can get in order to vote for a new name, even getting Willy and Mr. Macintosh from their vending places to help out. When the vote ends in a tie, they decide to give the dog himself the final choice. After everybody tries to call him over to their side with their proposed names, the dog chooses Gordon’s team and is officially given the new name of Barkley.
