Olivia reads the story of "How the King Got His Kazoo." In the story, a king wants to have a party and asks his subjects to bring the royal kazoo. The subjects don't listen and instead bring the royal canoe, then shampoo and finally, zoo. One little girl tries listening and successfully brings him his kazoo. He appoints her the Royal Listener, who will listen to the king and tell the rest his requests.

SCENE 3Big Bird sees David and Maria are sharing some headphones while listening to music, unable to hear Big Bird. He manages to flag down their attention and tells them Mr. Snuffleupagus is coming with his own portable radio soon, but he isn't believed yet again. Snuffy comes dancing down the street with his "Snuffman" radio and giant headphones. However, not only can nobody hear Big Bird's cries with their headphones on, but Maria and David are too busy dancing to notice Snuffy, whose eyes are closed and doesn't see them either.

Snuffy dances to his radio some more over at Big Bird's nest. Big Bird turns one of the headphones his way so he can groove too. The WSNF DJ (Jerry Nelson) segues to another song, when it comes time for Snuffy's favorite program - Snuffle Fortune Phone. The station will call one lucky Snuffleupagus and if they answer today's question, they win a big prize. Sure enough, Big Bird's phone rings with a call from the show! The DJ posits the question - "What was the color of George Washington's white horse?" The two think for a moment until Big Bird realizes the right answer. Snuffy's prize is a new Snuffman portable radio, and Snuffy decides to keep his current one and give the new one to Big Bird. They head over to the radio station to collect the prize.

They go inside and see Big Bird and the kids sharing the giant headphones. David remarks that he'd rather not have an explanation for this unusual sight. Maria agrees and they leave. Snuffy announces the sponsors.
