SCENE 1 At the Mail It Shop, Alan helps Big Bird read a letter from his pen-pal Gulliver. The letter says he will be coming to Sesame Street today for a visit. Big Bird isn't sure what to do when they meet, so Alan gives some musical advice: start by saying "How Do You Do?"
As Big Bird leaves to prepare for Gulliver's visit, some monsters pop up around Alan and chant, "How do you do? It's Monster Time! How do you do? It's Monster Time!"

SCENE 2 Big Bird practices his greeting at his nest when Gulliver arrives. The two get along very well, and after their meeting and greeting they sing a happy bird song together. Big Bird then receives a phone call from Snuffy, who wants to meet Gulliver too. Big Bird tells him to meet up later as he and Gulliver plan on touring Sesame Street first.

SCENE 2 cont'd Outside, Rosita is giving Baby Bear a Spanish lesson when Gulliver becomes surprised - they're not birds! He'd rather meet Snuffy but Big Bird reminds him that he won't get there for a while, so Gulliver requests they go somewhere else.

SCENE 2 cont'd The two birds make their way to the yard, where Miles and Gabi are playing basketball. Gulliver is shocked to see that people live on Sesame Street too and refuses to meet them, saying he's used to playing basketball with his bird team back home.

SCENE 2 cont'd A montage follows over an instrumental of "The People in Your Neighborhood" where Big Bird continues giving Gulliver a tour. The shocked tourist ducks out of sight of everyone he witnesses, including Gordon and Susan over at 123 Sesame Street, Maria, Luis, Bert, and Ernie at the Mail It Shop, and Linda and Bob having a chat.

SCENE 2 cont'd Big Bird recommends he and Gulliver get some birdseed milkshakes, but Gulliver's thirst retreats when he sees Alan is serving. He perks up when he confuses a passing duck as Snuffy, but Gulliver is shocked to learn that Big Bird's best friend really isn't a bird at all, but a Snuffleupagus when he shows up. Gulliver tells Snuffy that he doesn't want to play together because they're different species, and Snuffy becomes sad. Big Bird gets upset and tells Gulliver that he likes playing with Snuffy and it doesn't matter whether or not he's a bird. Gulliver learns that Snuffy likes saying the alphabet just like he does, and they all say the alphabet together. Gulliver realizes how wrong he was and apologizes for how he treated Snuffy, becoming friends with him.

SCENE 2 cont'd Big Bird calls the other street residents to meet Gulliver, who becomes a little overwhelmed and isn't sure what to say. They teach him how to introduce himself by singing "How Do You Do?" and soon Gulliver finds himself with a whole lot of different new friends. "Wow," he says. "Wait'll I tell all the birds back home about this!"
