Tron | Rotten Tomatoes
While not as dramatically strong as it is technologically, TRON is a visually stunning piece of science fiction that represents a landmark work in the history of computer animation.
Bret M. @BretM-3 2d This is one of my favorite 80s Sci Fi movies ever! Yes, the VFX are totally outdated, but the filmmakers have said that they wanted to make a movie that looked different from any other movie ever, and even if the Special Effects are outdated, there is still no movie that looks like Tron. It is so visually unique that no other movie has ever been able to copy it, even if they tried. I personally believe that that the effects give this movie a special charm that makes me want to rewatch it over and over again. I also love that when you’re in The Grid, you feel fully immersed in that world. The outfits, the vehicles, the technology everything keeps you really feeling like you’re in their world, not ours. The story is also very good as well. In the real world, Flynn wants to find proof that his creations were stolen and that he should earn commission for them, but in The Grid we have an epic Sci Fi adventure with action, love, and adventure. Having the stuff set in the real world allows us to have a great adventure in The Grid, while also using computers and video games to keep the movie somewhat grounded in reality. I also believe that the villains are strong too. You have Sark playing a Darth Vader-esque role as the main antagonist going up against our heroes, with the Master Control Program playing a manipulative Emperor Palpatine role as the guy pulling the strings and using Sark as his soldier. Both are really strong villains that go great against our heroes. But overall, I can’t say enough good things about this movie. It’s not perfect, but it really is a classic. It has action, romance, and adventure. It’s a classic tale of good vs. evil set in a digital frontier that is completely unique and looks nothing like any movie you’ve ever seen. In my opinion, this movie truly is a tale for the ages! See more Ed R @JustcallmeER Jan 12 One of the worst production movies I have yet to watch. See more Noah H @Noah85 Jan 11 A cult classic from the '80s. The story may be simplistic, but Tron 1982 does enough to make up for that simplicity in those areas. The CGI definitely looks dated by modern standards, but I feel like that's part of its charm. I can't imagine what it would have been like seeing this movie for the first time in theaters. The action is really fun and I feel like Jeff Bridge's Kevin Flynn has excellent chemistry with Cindy Morgan's Lora. Wendy Carlos's score is excellent too. My main problem with this movie is Kevin Flynn himself. There isn't really a whole lot to him. He's just a cool guy computer programmer who loves playing video games. I felt like they could have developed his character a little more. Oh, well. Despite these problems, I'm sure you can have a fun time with Tron 1982. END OF LINE!!!!
