Vendhya

Vendhya, on the Hyborian coasts of the Southern Ocean, was an ancient kingdom[1] and subcontinent of Hyboria,[2] with a tropical climate. Its reputation among foreigners rested on the fabled wealth of its royalty, on the fierce Vendhyan tigers, and upon its tradable goods.[1]

Rulership[]

The city of Ayodhya hosted the Devi (queen). Royal power actually rested on the loyalty of a caste of warrior nobles, the Kshatriya.[3][1]

Religion[]

Asura was a popular deity in Vendhya, and the Priests of Asura were servants to the throne.[1]

Borders and international relationships[]

The land way towards Hyrkania passed through the valley of Gureshah, and through the Himelian Mountains. To the east laid the independent kingdom of Kambuja and its capital Angkjor. The mysterious kingdom of Uttara Kuru as set between Vendya and Kambuja, which was coveted by the Devis of Vendhya. To the west was Kosala.[1]

Economy[]

Vendhya's reputation among foreigners rested notably on the fabled wealth of its royalty, and upon its tradable goods. Vendhya traded in gold, gemstones, exotic fruit and flowers, silks, rare spices, drugs, perfumes, and cosmetics.[1]

West off the coasts of Vendhya are set the Misty Isles.[4]
