- For other uses, see Bell.
A bell is a direct-struck percussion instrument. Most are similar in shape to a hollow cup.
History and specifics[]
Many resonant structures may be noted to ring like a struck bell, such as the hull of a Danube-class runabout. (TNG eBook: The Stuff of Dreams)
Idiomatically, to "ring a bell" is to seem familiar or remind one of something; to have one's bell rung is to be struck with a violent blow to the head.
