The Fourth Order was a 24th century Cardassian Union military unit, an order in the Cardassian Guard under the aegis of the Cardassian Central Command. (DS9 episode & novelization: Emissary)
History and specifics[]
The Fourth Order operated in the 2350s decade. In the year 2357, Gul Trepar was the commanding officer of the Fourth Order. (DS9 novel: Fearful Symmetry)
The Cardassian Fourth order had operated covertly in the Glintara sector since the 2350s. (DS9 novel: Hollow Men)
During the Cardassian attack on the joint Bajoran-Federation space station Deep Space 9 around stardate 46379.1 in the year 2369, Gul Jasad of the Seventh Order requested reinforcements from Central Command. Units of the Fourth Order were the closest ships yet still one day away. (DS9 episode & novelization: Emissary)
In the 2370s, Gul Aman Evek was a prominent member of the Fourth Order. In the year 2371, Gul Evek's primary responsibility was to deal with the Maquis in the Demilitarized Zone and the Badlands. In that year, Evek was on a mission to capture Chakotay's cell. (VOY episode & novelization: Caretaker)
Trepar remained as the commander of the Fourth Order as of 2373. His aide was Glinn Borven. (DS9 episode: "Ties of Blood and Water")
In Grathon Tolar's forged holoprogram of a Dominion discussion on the invasion of Romulan space on stardate 51721.3 during the Dominion War in 2374, the Fourth Order was to assist the Jem'Hadar in the thrust through the Glintara sector. (DS9 episode: "In the Pale Moonlight")
Alternate timeline[]
In another timeline where the Cardassians discovered the Bajoran wormhole, Gul Evek commanded a Fourth Order division consisting of a pair of Galor-class destroyers, the CDS Vetar and the CDS Trager, and the Cardassian freighter CDS Bok'Nor during the Cardassian invasion of the Dorvan star system. Thanks to an alliance between the Cardassian Union and the Dominion from the Gamma Quadrant, Evek's ships had been equipped with a devastating new weapon, the phased polaron beam array. His ships departed from orbit at Dorvan V to confront an incoming Starfleet task force consisting of three Intrepid-class starships, led by Captain Kathryn Janeway. Following brief communications to state terms, Evek's ships engaged Janeway's in combat. In the ensuing Battle of Dorvan V, the Fourth Order destroyed the USS Intrepid and USS Voyager. The USS Bellerophon suffered heavy damage and fled the system.
Soon after, the CDS Reklar, under the command of Gul Lemec, was destroyed in battle with the USS Excalibur during the attempted capture of a Bajoran Resistance fighter. (TNG - Myriad Universes - Echoes and Refractions novel: A Gutted World)
