The Hopkins-class was a type of hospital ship starship in service to Earth Starfleet and Federation Starfleet in the mid-to-late 22nd century. (TOS reference: Spaceflight Chronology)

Service history[]

The Hopkins-class had a crew of 23 and a mass of nearly 90,000 tons. It entered service on reference stardate 0/9803. (TOS reference: Spaceflight Chronology, FASA RPG module: The Romulan War)

During the Earth-Romulan War, Hopkins-class ships were sent to support areas of the battle front, providing medical care for injured crewmen and civilians. (FASA RPG module: The Romulan War)

Hopkins-class ships played an integral part in the Federation's Medical Assistance Program and were dispatched to sectors or systems experiencing severe medical emergencies. They remained in service until reference stardate 1/33. (TOS reference: Spaceflight Chronology)

Both Spaceflight Chronology and the FASA RPG use a timeline in which the Romulan War occurred nearly 20 years after the foundation of the Federation, with the Hopkins-class being a ship of the Federation Starfleet. However, Star Trek: Enterprise later canonically placed the Romulan War shortly before foundation, 2155–2160. Adapting the Hopkins-class to this chronology suggests that it began as an Earth Starfleet vessel, entering service c. 2151.
