The Assist-class was a type of warp tender starship in service to Earth Starfleet and Federation Starfleet in the mid-to-late 22nd century. (TOS reference: Spaceflight Chronology)

Service history[]

The Assist-class had a crew of 23 and a mass of nearly 13,500 tons. It entered service on reference stardate 0/9804. Two hundred ships were built.

An Assist-class vessel served in the 155th Combat Squadron. It was destroyed prior to the declared war by an ambush while ships' personnel were on shore leave at Outer Sector Defense Outpost 4, on reference stardate 1/0011.21. (FASA RPG module: The Romulan War)

Both Spaceflight Chronology and the FASA RPG use a timeline in which the Romulan War occurred nearly 20 years after the foundation of the Federation, with the Assist-class being a ship of the Federation Starfleet. However, Star Trek: Enterprise later canonically placed the Romulan War shortly before foundation, 2155–2160. Adapting the Assist-class to this chronology suggests that it began as an Earth Starfleet vessel, entering service c. 2151.
