Cavalry class

The Cavalry class was a type of 22nd century United Earth Starfleet destroyer, a second-line combat starship that served before and during the Earth-Romulan War.

Service history and disposition[]

The class entered service on reference stardate 0/8407. Despite their designation as second-line vessels, they often participated in specialized task forces, scouting, and front-line operations.

In the 2150s decade, a Cavalry-class destroyer served in the 24th Tactical Anti-Piracy Group.

Three Cavalry class cruisers served in the 155th Combat Squadron. Two were destroyed prior to the declared war by an ambush while ships' personnel were on shore leave at Outer Sector Defense Outpost 4, on reference stardate 1/0011.21. USS Carronade was outside the system on patrol, and survived the slaughter to report on the sneak attack.

The Cavalry-class USS Machiavelli was lost during the Battle of Manarram.

During their service period, one hundred Cavalry-class ships were constructed. (FASA RPG module: The Romulan War)

Background[]

The Romulan War presented in FASA RPG was set some 19 years after the Federation’s founding, and was fought between it and the Romulan Empire. In light of later canonical information, this is assumed to be against the precursor Coalition of Planets instead, with forces of United Earth Starfleet rather than the United Nations Solar Fleet.
