When Zero lived with their hive mind, they travelled the galaxy on an old Medusan starship to sate their curiosity. (PRD episode: "Preludes")
This class of ships was provided to the Medusans by the Federation in the 23rd century. (TOS novel: The Higher Frontier)
In the late 2370s or early 2380s, Kazon slavers ambushed the ship's crew while their vessel hovered over the surface of a craggy world in the Delta Quadrant. The Kazon captured Zero, who was sold to serve the Diviner on the prison planet Tars Lamora. The rest of the crew escaped aboard their ship.
In the year 2384, Zero recounted the event to their friends aboard the USS Protostar. (PRD episode: "Preludes")
