Picture Segment Description

SCENE 1 Big Bird excitedly welcomes the viewer from his nest, and calls Susan over to talk about what will be happening today. Susan asks him to not yell so loudly, especially considering that a baby is napping in the floor above her. The same thing happens when he tries to get Gordon to help, and he and Susan ask him to quiet down again. Big Bird has an idea on how to stop speaking so loudly (and saying silly things, as people sometimes tell him).

Mr. Hooper thinks that the scarf is unnecessary if Big Bird only learned to think before he spoke. As Mr. Hooper tends to washing his dishes, Big Bird begins to loudly ask random questions and go on tangents until Mr. Hooper puts the scarf around Big Bird's beak again.

He becomes nervous to go near it, and thinks of ways to approach Susan without having to bother the dog. He considers calling her on the phone, or yelling for her outside the window. Gordon hears him instead, and explains that Big Bird did the right thing in not getting near the strange dog. Gordon shows him that the dog is a friendly one named Tooey, and Big Bird is able to overcome his fear, and starts petting and chatting with the dog.
