The Lurians are a humanoid species from the planet, Luria, located in the Ionite Nebula region. Although rarely seen away from their homeworld, some Lurians have moved out into the galaxy to live out their lives.

History and specifics[]

Physiology[]

Although they are humanoid in appearance, the Lurians have developed multiple hearts, four lungs at the minimum, and two stomachs, which has made them a more resistant species against poisons and other multitudes of toxins. The additional stomach also allows them to store liquids for years at a time. They are about the same height as a human, but have a broader and heavier body. They have gray or tan skin with narrow, elongated heads. They also have wide mouths, puggish noses, and small, deep-set eyes. Most Lurians seem to have hair, except for Morn, who has gone bald. Lurians were supposedly immune to Vegan choriomeningitis; nevertheless, Morn contracted the disease in 2369. Julian Bashir discovered a treatment for him. (DS9 - Invasion! novel: Time's Enemy)

History[]

At one point, a breakaway faction of green-skinned Lurians adopted the moniker Baladonians and settled on Garadius IV. (TTN novel: Absent Enemies)

The Lurians were neutral during the Dominion War. (DS9 short story: "Foundlings")

When the renegade android Lore rewrote the fabric of existence to build a universe that was structured around his image, at least one Lurian with dark grey skin worked inside the alternate version of Starfleet that served the Grand Eternal Matrix of Lore. This individual was a bridge officer aboard the LSS Cerritos, under the command of Captain Skkkth, but was killed when Supreme Pah-wraith Shaxs Drazon - who was restored to his prime universe version - took over the starship. By the 32nd century, several Lurians were working for the Emerald Chain at their exchanges and as regulators. (DSC episodes: "That Hope Is You, Part 1", "People of Earth")

Government[]

One government organization is Lurian Security. It is not unknown for it to have non-Lurian personnel. The Government was controlled by Royal Family of Luria. (DS9 episode: "Who Mourns for Morn?")

Society[]

The Lurians have a royal family, including a crown prince. (DS9 episode: "Who Mourns for Morn?") This royal family is known as the Gheljiar, and it united the people of Luria thousands of years ago. (DS9 reference: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Core Game Book; DSC novel: The Enterprise War)
