COLD OPEN
10th Season Intro Still
SCENE 1Oscar peers from his trash can at the usual business going about on Sesame Street: the kids cheerfully walk by before coloring on the sidewalk, David and Susan greet each other warmly, Bob finds a discarded brick and throws it away, and Linda returns from a run from the park before joining everybody in Hooper's Store for some breakfast. Oscar can't stand all the bright attitudes today and wishes everyone could be a Grouch like him, and begins to imagine what that would be like...
SCENE 1 cont'd
In Oscar's imagination Sesame Street has become "Grouch Street," covered with litter and everyone wearing tattered and dirty clothing. The kids galomph by Oscar's can, David and Susan greet each other grouchily, Bob observes the kids throwing crumpled newspapers at each other before stubbing his toe on a brick, and Linda returns from a very nasty subway ride before joining everybody in the store for a breakfast of lumpy oatmeal mixed with coffee grinds, horseradish, and catsup.
SCENE 1 cont'd
Back in reality, David brings Oscar some breakfast, which happens to be the same meal he imagined. "I guess I do have some imagination," remarks Oscar before digging in.
