This article is about Dedede Robo as it specifically pertains to King Dedede. For the very similar-looking robot from Kirby's Return to Dream Land, see HR-D3.
This article is about the robot in Kirby Quest, and should not be confused with Robo Dedede.

Dedede Robo[Japanese title] is a large pilotable robot that belongs to King Dedede. In the Kirby video game series, it only formally appears as the final opponent of Chapter 2 of Kirby Quest, a Sub-Game in Kirby Mass Attack, though it was originally planned to appear as a boss in the canceled Kirby for Nintendo GameCube.

Dedede Robo is large and bulky, painted after the color of King Dedede's crown and robe. Its right hand is replaced with a large drill, and it has no legs or feet, moving around by flying through the air. Inside the head is a seat which Dedede can use to control the robot, though it can also act autonomously. It contains a large laser cannon inside its head as well, and bears King Dedede's insignia on its chest casing.

A repainted and re-tooled version of this robot would later appear in Kirby's Return to Dream Land, under the moniker of HR-D3 and owned by Metal General EX. Many fans initially thought HR-D3 and Dedede Robo were one and the same, but supplementary materials such as the Dedede Directory feature on the Kirby JP Twitter confirm them to be separate (image in gallery below).

Game appearances[edit]

Kirby Mass Attack[edit]

In Kirby Mass Attack, Dedede Robo appears in the Kirby Quest mode, as the last encounter in Chapter 2. It has 2,500 HP.

Kirby for Nintendo GameCube[edit]

Dedede Robo was originally set to appear as a boss in Kirby for Nintendo GameCube before it was canceled. Prerelease footage shows that it would have been powered by Kirby's Warp Star, stolen from him by King Dedede for this purpose. Here, it also demonstrates its laser cannon.
