| “ | Ride over buttons and battle for control of the area! | ” | — Button Rush Stadium description from Kirby Air Riders |
Button Rush is a Stadium mode in Kirby Air Riders, having a chance to appear at the end of City Trial on default settings. It tasks riders with obtaining a high score by pressing buttons to change their color.
Overview[edit]
There are two locations for Button Rush; Button Rush 1 takes place in Skyah, while Button Rush 2 uses the same arena as Kirby Melee 2, albeit without the enemies. Both locations have a large number of buttons placed about, and the objective is to press buttons to obtain as many points as possible.
Buttons can be pressed either by driving over them or hitting them with a projectile, such as the Cutter Copy Ability. There are three types of buttons, these being small, floating, and large; these are worth one, three, and five points respectively. Buttons are gray by default, but will change to one of the following colors when pressed; red for Player 1, dark blue for Player 2, yellow for Player 3, green for Player 4, pink for Player 5, purple for Player 6, orange for Player 7, or turquoise for Player 8. Pressing a button belonging to another rider will convert it to the presser's own color and transfer the points to them, subtracting from the original owner. Once pushed, a button will remain compressed for about a second afterwards, before popping up and becoming pushable again. The rider with the highest score at the end of the match is crowned the victor.
As indicated by its name, speed is a vital factor in achieving victory in Button Rush, although handling is also extremely helpful, as poor Turn or Grip can result in having to slow down early to avoid soaring past buttons.
Road Trip[edit]
In Road Trip, the goal of some Button Rush challenges is instead to obtain a certain number of points within a time limit. These missions' point requirements vary per level, and also depend on the selected difficulty, with a higher difficulty having a higher point requirement.
The retirement rule is also active regardless of the win conditions, unlike with the City Trial Stadium for Button Rush.
There are a total of twenty Button Rush challenges in Road Trip:
