Miles (often abbreviated to simply M) are a type of currency that is used within Kirby Air Riders. Miles appear as a standard golden coin, with the "M" engraved on them. The main purpose of Miles is spending them on commodities of the Miles Shop or the Machine Market. The player is given 300 Miles upon launching the game for the first time; afterward, they are primarily earned by participating and finishing in Air Ride and Top Ride races, as well as City Trial matches (both offline and online). This is represented by an effect on the results screen, with Miles showering the rider. According to Masahiro Sakurai, more Miles are being gained the more the player plays the game,[1] however, another aspect that appears to be play is the amount of inputs performed during a race or a match (akin to Gold in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate). For example, if a player does not do anything throughout the race, they will receive no Miles, even if they take 1st place. Another way of gaining Miles is from some of the checklist tasks.
In addition, the Road Trip mode features its unique type of Miles called Road Miles (R) that can only be used within a playthrough of the mode. Unlike regular Miles, Road Miles are silver and have an "R" instead. Road Miles are earned by completing challenges throughout the journey. They can be spent in Road Shops for variety of goods offered there, or to retry a failed challenge without having to return to previous Rest Area. In addition, New Game + allows any current Road Miles to be transferred to a new save file.
Trivia[edit]
- Miles are still called Miles in the versions of the game that use the metric system.
